Iron Mountain is located about 36 miles east of Sweet Home on Hwy 20. It is a wonderful hike because of the variety landscapes, the abundance of wildflowers, and it is a 6.6 mile loop. It may be one of my favorite hikes for scenery.
This was the first-time hike to Iron Mountain so Eric and I were not aware of the fantastic views that are available on a sunny day. However, the fog added an ethereal element to the hike that was absent when the sun was out in full force, and people populated the trail.
