Cape Horn, WA 29 April 2016

I headed west on Hwy 14 for my second hike of the day. I had heard that the delphiniums bloomed profusely along the trail in spring and I had yet to see them. So on the way home, I stopped to hike about 2 miles up the trail to enjoy the flowers and the views of the gorge. I was in for a treat. The only times I have hike this trail have been fall and winter. It was completely unrecognizable to me! Flowers everywhere! The forest floor was a carpet of purple-blue. The trail was lined with fringe cup, delphinium, plumed Solomon seal, and bleeding hearts. There were many more tiny flowers too. It was one of those typical Oregon rainy days when it rains then stops then rains again. Consequently some of my flower pictures are not the best, but I included them anyway. The highlight of the day was the rainbow over the Columbia that I glimpsed as I was headed down. God has so blessed me to be able to hike in such a beautiful place! And just imagine, heaven is going to be soooo much more beautiful!
The lower trail is closed for until July but you can still do a 8 mi out and back hike. I only hiked 4.2 miles.
