Cape Falcon 2 July 2013

Cheryl and I headed to the coast to avoid the heat in the valley.  Forgot my shoes so had to turn around 1/2 hour into the trip.  But we arrived at Short Sand Beach parking lot around 11:30a, ate lunch then headed off to hike the Cape Falcon trail as far as the trail kept to the coast.  It was an easy trail regarding elevation gain, but plagued by roots.  Not many flowers, but the forest was old-growth.  We hiked until the views were obliterated by the salal growing on the cliffs, then turned around.  We headed down to the nice wide beach surrounded by huge cliffs and poked around in the tide pools as the tide was pretty much at it's low point.  We left the beach around 4p and came home via 101, an easier, less windy route.
